"Ghost Riders I." by Sebastian Bieniek 2016
"Ghost Riders I.", 2016, series of overpainted original LP's by Sebastian Bieniek (B1EN1EK) from the oeuvre of Bieniekface.
The first painting was created in 2014.
The concept of the series is to portray people who have died tragically or too young "as from the beginning connected with some kind of angel". Behind this lies on the one hand the idea of predetermined fate and on the other hand the unknown in ourselves. The figure that connects with the protagonist from the beginning can stand for both. So to speak, she is a co-protagonist right from the start.
Meanwhile the series contains all together 24 paintings, splitted in part one from 2014-2016 and
part two from 2019. The first series ("Ghost Riders I.") from 2016 contains 6 paintings.
Each of the paintings is painted on an original LP (or book-cover) of somebody who died in a tragical way. The size verious.
Bieniek also worked on an BieniekFace oeuvre of photographs.
The entire "Ghost Riders" series contains (not yet finished but planned to be finished around the year 2025) 232 paintings of 58 characters (icons), which means that every icon is 4 times (in 4 different variations) painted. Of this 4 variations the first 3 are the ones of the original icon and the 4th is a collage of Sebastian Bieniek mostly into the most iconic pose (picture) of the current icon. This 4th painting which is a merge of the artist with the icon into something new/different is called a "Ghost Rider", which makes even sense because in the way a person can ride a horse, the artist is riding in a way on in fact Ghosts due to the persons do not anymore exist.
